[livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_awards has been imported to this mirror comm on DW as of 4/17/17. I imported the community for archival purposes only; I think the links available here are a great fandom resource and I don't want to lose them should anything happen to fandom on LJ.

While the last round of N3A was held in 2010, the nominations and winners at N3A showcase some of the best artists and authors in our fandom, so if you've just found us, please feel free to browse around.

Please comment here if you have any questions.

Thank you.

There will not be a sixth round of Numb3rs Awards in January, 2011.

This was a very difficult decision for me to make, but I believe I’ve made the best decision for both myself and the fandom. Several committee members have moved on, and two of the remaining members have been inactive in the Numb3rs fandom for some time. I believe that any fandom awards should be run by people who are actually in that fandom, and I think we’d be doing a disservice if we tried to run them in a vacuum, with little to no idea what was going on around us.

I want to thank each member of the Numb3rs Awards Committee, past and present ([livejournal.com profile] admiralandrea, [livejournal.com profile] elysium1996, [livejournal.com profile] mercilynn, [livejournal.com profile] munchkinofdoom and [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall), for the efforts you've made on behalf of the Numb3rs Awards. Your assistance has been invaluable (you were life and sanity savers, seriously! *g*), and I've enjoyed working with you.

Thanks also, and most especially, to everyone in the fandom who participated in and supported the awards. You people are pretty awesome!

That’s right, nominations for the fourth round of Numb3rs Awards are now open, so get your nominating fingers all limbered up. *g* Nominations will remain open from January 23, 2009 through March 5, 2009.

You may scroll down to find the nominating posts, or use the links located to the right, as well as on the profile.

[Please note that the nominations for each format (ie, Gen Fic or Graphics) will be compiled in the nominating post so you can see at a glance what has already been nominated. Once the nominating period is closed, a master list of all nominations will be posted to the comm.]

We have not made any substantive changes to the rules, but we have made some clarifications, so please read the Rules before you nominate. If you have any questions not answered by either the Rules or the FAQ, please ask them here.

In addition to myself, the Numb3rs Awards Committee for 2009 is [livejournal.com profile] admiralandrea, [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall, [livejournal.com profile] elysium1996, [livejournal.com profile] mercilynn and [livejournal.com profile] munchkinofdoom, so many thanks to them for their assistance.

Hello, everyone!

Given the type and number of icon nominations we’ve received this year, we’ve reexamined the Icon sub-categories and have decided we need to expand some of the sub-categories and create sub-sub-categories for others. *g* This is what we’ve come up with:

CATEGORY - Single Character
Sub-categories: Don, Charlie, Regular Character (Alan, Megan, David, Colby, Larry, Amita etc), Recurring or Guest Character (Meeks, Coop, Edgerton etc).

**If we receive enough nominations for a particular regular or recurring character, such as Colby or Coop, they will be broken out and given their own sub-category.

CATEGORY - Pairing
Romantic pairings (or threesomes).

**If we receive enough nominations, this will be broken down into Het, Slash and Threesome sub-categories.

CATEGORY - Family
Two or more members of the Eppes family.

CATEGORY - FBI/CalSci (formerly Team)
Two or more members from either team, or both; not a pairing.

**If we receive enough nominations, this will be broken down into FBI, CalSci, FBI/CalSci mixed sub-categories

CATEGORY - Text/Art/Graphics
Text only, artistic photography without the character image, that sort of thing.

Please note that the rule that an artist may only be nominated twice per category applies to each sub-category as well, so Artist Z may be nom’d twice in each sub-category that is created. So if you’re wondering what this means to you, it means you can nominate more icons!

To make things easier for the committee member who must place your icons in the correct category, please include the main category (character, pairing, family, fbi/calsci, or text/art/grahics) when nominating. Thank you!

(It sounds more complicated than it is, trust me. *g* If you want to see what we mean, just check out the revised list of graphics nominations here.)

Hello all it's [personal profile] elysium1996,

I wanted to take this opportunity to let everyone know who has made nominations that your patience is appreciated. Please note that it does take time for us to comb through all the great nominations before we can just post them. We have to verify the info and sometimes get in touch with the nominees/nominator. And lastly we need to do the coding and format the new nominations in the updated post. The committee members update the pages as fast as we can and promise we will get them all up as soon as possible.

I know the other committee members and myself are happy to do the work and are thrilled to see so many of our fellow Authors/Artists/Vidders names go up on the list.

Thank you to everyone who has made nominations up to this point, and thank you to all the new ones that we will be seeing over the next two weeks. Remember you have until March 4, 2008 to make your nominations, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Thanks again for your participation in Round 3 of the [community profile] numb3rs_awards, and I want to take this opportunity to wish all the nominees that we have and will have congrats and best of luck!

Take care,

Ely

We have some new ‘Nominated at...’ buttons which were created for us by [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall, [livejournal.com profile] munchkinofdoom and [livejournal.com profile] irena_adler. Thanks so much, ladies! *hugs*

Check them out right here, and if you’ve been nominated, please snag one!

Hey, folks! We wanted to let everyone know that, even though we tried to address everything before the awards opened, some of you have asked us questions that we hadn’t considered and some issues have arisen once the nominations started coming in . . . .

The committee members discuss the issues as they arise, and if the issue was due to one of you asking a question, we get back to you as soon as we can. In addition, we update the Rules and FAQ to reflect the clarification so that everyone is aware of it, so please do check back once in a while.

Please note that we don’t change the existing rules, merely provide additional explanation in an attempt to make them more clear.

Thank you!

Upon further consideration, and because the Awards haven't gotten too far along as of yet, we've decided to include 2 new categories in this round: Drabble and Drabble Series.

The definitions of these two new categories for purposes of the awards are:

-Drabble: A fic of 100-300 words. Please note that this is the only category a Drabble may be nominated in.
-Drabble Series: A series of 3 or more Drabbles as defined above.

This necessitates changes in the definition of the following categories:

-Series: A series of at least three related standalone fic. Please note that 1) a chaptered story is not a series of fic and 2) a series of Drabbles may only be nominated under the Drabble Series category.
-Shortie: A fic of 301-1000 words.

Thanks to everyone who suggested this and to my fellow committee members for their understanding. *g*

That’s right, nominations for the third round are now open, so get your nominating fingers all limbered up. *g* You may scroll down to find the nominating posts, or use the links located to the right, as well as on the profile. [Please note that the nominations for each format (ie, Gen Fic or Graphics) will be compiled in the nominating post so you can see at a glance what has already been nominated. Once the nominating period is closed, a master list of all nominations will be posted to the comm.]

We’d also like to welcome [livejournal.com profile] munchkinofdoom to our 2008 Numb3rs Awards Committee. She will be assisting [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall with the graphics, which means, not only will you all be getting your winner buttons in a timely fashion this round, you’ll even (finally!) receive them for last round, so a huge cheer to both of them for all the work they’ll be putting into that.

Also, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall for the community banner and icon she created for this brand spanking new round of Numb3rs Awards!

Hello, everyone!

First, thank you to everyone who took the poll and/or commented regarding the future of Numb3rs Awards. Your concerns, especially those regarding making both the nominations and the voting as open and free of the appearance of impropriety as we can, will be addressed.

Secondly, I'd like to announce the creation of the Numb3rs Awards Committee for 2008 (and beyond). I'm very excited about this, as I discovered last round that doing the awards alone was a daunting task. The committee members are, in addition to myself: [livejournal.com profile] admiralandrea, [livejournal.com profile] angeliksmall, [livejournal.com profile] elysium1996 and [livejournal.com profile] leda_speaks. Thank you, ladies, for volunteering for this project.

Third, in future, all mod posts will be made using this [livejournal.com profile] n3amod account.

We'll be back on January 23 with the third round of Numb3rs Awards!

It has been brought to my attention that some folk plan on boycotting Numb3rs Awards this year because they don’t have any faith in the awards. In other words, they think I’m influencing who wins. Specifically, I presume, they think I’ve made myself a winner when the votes might not have agreed. It has been suggested that I turn the awards over to someone who isn’t an author to run.

I started the awards because I love the Numb3rs fandom community and I wanted to reward the folk who give us fanfic, graphics, vids, etc, in an effort to keep the fandom strong, not because I wanted to give myself a bunch of awards.

People were leery the first round, when polling was done on LJ and the votes (though not the names of the people who voted) were viewable to everyone. There are several other awards comms on LJ, and they continue to use the poll method for voting. The benefit of that method is you all can see that I am, in fact, not cheating when it comes to counting the votes.

I continue to love Numb3rs and the fandom we’ve created, so my first choice is to not give up the awards comm unless it’s absolutely necessary. However, I’ll abide by your wishes. The only catch, of course, is that you have to be brave enough to say it to my face. No one but me will be able to see who voted for which option, but I would appreciate it if everyone who had a concern would take a moment to either vote or to let me know how they feel in comments, which I will screen so I’m the only one who will see them.

Another catch: if you think I should hand Numb3rs Awards over to someone else, you must tell me who. Frankly, I’ve had trouble getting folk to volunteer to help me with the awards, so I have no idea who might want to actually run them.

Thank you.

To make things easier for those of you who'd like to nominate a graphic but don't have anywhere to host it, and don't feel like opening an account for just this purpose, I've created a photobucket account for [livejournal.com profile] numb3rs_awards.

Numb3rs Awards

Username: numb3rsawards
Password: Charlie (case-sensitive)

I've created a Round One folder, inside that folder are folders for each of the graphics categories: Banners/Headers, Icons, Wallpapers & Other. Load your graphic in the appropriate folder and include the url photobucket provides you in your nomination form.

Thank you!
